Welcome to Sava Memorial Hospital,
We are a comprehensive general hospital that brings together leading surgeons and medical specialists from Serbia and beyond. We stand out as one of the few private hospitals in Serbia catering to both adults and children. Our permanent team consists of experienced surgeons and specialists, who are recognized by their peers worldwide.
REGIONAL CONSULTANTS:
Our consultants and guest physicians are some of the most distinguished surgeons in the region and Europe. Their appointments at our facility are scheduled in advance, allowing you to book consultations, examinations, or seek a “second opinion”.
"BOUTIQUE HOSPITAL" CONCEPT:
Our “boutique hospital” model emphasizes a smaller patient population, a personalized treatment approach, around-the-clock access to our team of experts for all patients, and a warm, homely atmosphere that prioritizes comfort and attentive care.
"ONE-DAY SURGERY" INITIATIVE:
We are proponents of minimally invasive surgery, enabling patients to recover swiftly. Known for our “one-day surgery” approach, we leverage cutting-edge technology and exceptional surgical expertise to conduct numerous procedures on an outpatient basis. This means that patients are able to quickly recover and return to their daily activities.
The admissions department serves as the hospital’s hub of information, ready to provide answers to all your questions. This team manages inquiries from potential patients reaching out via phone, email, or social media. Once you decide to schedule a consultation, our admissions staff will set up your appointment, informing you of the date and time.
For your first visit, we kindly request that you bring all relevant medical documentation for the physician you’re seeing. Alternatively, you can submit your documents electronically to the department or directly to the doctor’s address, which our admissions team will provide details for.
Call for details and arrangement
Admission to the hospital is organized in coordination with our staff, who will provide you with timely information about the process. Admissions are typically scheduled for the day of the surgery, or the day before if preparation is needed.
On the day before your surgery, you should consume easily digestible, light foods such as clear soups, steamed vegetables, chicken, teas, clear juices, and water. Please stop eating by around 8 p.m. the evening before your surgery, and cease drinking liquids and water by midnight.
If you are on any regular medications that you’ve already discussed with the internist and anesthesiologist, please continue taking them as per their guidance.
For surgeries that necessitate more thorough preparation or earlier hospital admission, you will be provided with detailed, tailored instructions from the surgeon in coordination with the anesthesiologist, catering specifically to your case.
For your hospital stay, please bring your personal hygiene items, slippers, and personal belongings. It’s not necessary to bring pajamas, towels, or a bathrobe, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Food and water (bottled “Prolom” water) will be provided during your stay. If you have special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, vegetarian, or food allergies), please inform us upon admission, and we will accommodate your requirements.
Upon admission, we will ask you to nominate a contact person who can be informed about your condition and updated after the surgery.
Rest assured that your private data is protected in accordance with all relevant data protection laws and procedures.
Preoperative preparation is an essential process that comes before any surgical intervention. This phase is crucial to ensure you’re in optimal physical and mental condition, ready to undergo surgery. At the outset, our hospital team will guide you through the necessary steps and remain available to provide any information you need as you compile your test results.
What’s involved in preoperative preparation?
1. Laboratory Tests: These include blood typing, complete blood count (CBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), glucose, urea, creatinine, sodium (Na), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), international normalized ratio (INR), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), urine analysis and culture, D-dimer, and fibrinogen. Note that lab results should be no more than 15 days old.
2. Internist Evaluation: This includes an EKG and an echocardiogram, especially for patients over the age of 65 or those with chronic cardiac conditions.
Please inform your physician and provide us with your medical records if you:
– Suffer from any chronic conditions (e.g., neurological, cardiac, hematological, endocrinological)
– Are receiving anticoagulant therapy (e.g., Andol, Aspirin, Cardiopirin, Plavix, Farin, Xarelto, Pradaxa)
Are allergic to any medications.
Our anesthesiologist may require additional tests after reviewing your documentation.
The collective aim of all healthcare professionals involved in your treatment is to ensure the surgery and recovery phase are as safe as possible. Therefore, your cooperation in being transparent and providing all necessary documentation is incredibly important. We may also consult with doctors who have been monitoring your long-term health.
All the preoperative preparation items listed can be completed at our hospital, with guidance and support from our medical team.
